IPCC MRV Systems

Development of IPCC*-compliant greenhouse gas monitoring and reporting systems for the land use sector

Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) have agreed to report their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals from all economic sectors on a regular basis.

To this end, ANRICA supports countries in establishing MRV (monitoring, reporting and verification) systems to handle complete reporting of emissions/removals of all six LULUCF land-use categories according to the IPCC 2006 guidelines for the LULUCF** (IPCC 2006).

This also ensures a complete LULUCF reporting in line with the LULUCF chapters of the IPCC 1996 guidelines (IPCC 1996) which is the mandatory and minimum reporting standard for greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories for Non-Annex-I-countries, and it allows a complete LULUCF reporting according to the IPCC 2003 Good Practice Guidance (GPG) on LULUCF (IPCC, 2003).

ANRICA joined forces with National Parks Board Singapore to develop an IPCC compliant LULUCF MRV system.
